MEET ADRIENNE DAVIS
New Leadership Delivering Results for Our Community

Adrienne M. Davis, Esquire, has practiced law in the State of Maryland for 25 years.  She is also licensed to practice law in Washington, D.C. and in the United States District Court of Maryland.  Currently, she is a sole practitioner who owns Davis Law and Mediation, L.L.C., a premier law firm located in Charles County, Maryland.  

Ms. Davis attended Morgan State University on an academic scholarship.  She graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and minored in English.  She received a fellowship to attend the Pennsylvania State University where she earned a Master of Public Administration degree.  Ms. Davis also earned a Juris Doctorate of Law degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law.    After graduating from law school, she worked as a law clerk for several circuit court judges. 

After serving as a judicial law clerk, Ms. Davis began working as an Assistant State’s Attorney at the Office of the State’s Attorney for Prince George’s County.  She tried various misdemeanor cases. She was promoted to the Juvenile Division where she prosecuted juveniles who committed misdemeanors and felonies. Ms. Davis also served in the Felony Narcotic and Asset Forfeiture Division and prosecuted individuals charged with the felonious possession and/or distribution of narcotics.   She was then promoted to the Major Crimes Division where she prosecuted individuals who were charged with the following:  attempted murder, robbery with a dangerous and deadly weapon, rape, first degree assault, and burglary.  She also gained experience trying homicide cases. She has extensive experience trying cases before juries.     

After serving as an Assistant State’s Attorney, Ms. Davis continued her service with the County by becoming an Associate County Attorney within the Office of Law for Prince George’s County.  She defended the County and its employees in cases involving the following areas of law:  employment discrimination, excessive force alleged against County police officers, and negligent actions (i.e. slip and falls, motor torts, etc.).  She also served as Senior Legal Counsel to the Office of the County Executive.  Ms. Davis worked with agency heads and division heads to ensure compliance with equal employment opportunity laws, tried cases before the County Personnel Board, and approved contracts, amendments, deeds, grant agreements, and grant applications for form and legal sufficiency prior to execution by the County.  She served as legal counsel for the Animal Control Commission, and tried cases before the Employment Panel of the Human Relations Commission.  Ms. Davis’ responsibilities also included prosecuting correctional officers who were the subject of disciplinary actions and she responded to several document requests that were made pursuant to the Maryland Public Information Act (MPIA).  She also wrote and filed briefs in cases that were appealed to the Court of Special Appeals of Maryland (the State’s second highest Court). 

As a sole proprietor of Davis Law and Mediation, LLC, Ms. Davis works in various areas of the law.  She is a criminal defense attorney.  Thus, she represents clients in criminal cases in both the District and Circuit Courts in Charles County. She represents juveniles in delinquency cases.   Her law practice also includes: 1) representing children in divorce cases (serving as a guardian ad litem), 2) representing parents accused of abusing and/or neglecting their children, 3) reviewing contracts, 3) preparing wills, powers of attorney and advance medical directives, and 4) representing clients in protective order cases.  She has been appointed to serve as a Settlement Conference Facilitator for the Charles County Circuit Court. She is often called upon by the Circuit Court to mediate custody cases.  Ms. Davis is a trained mediator who has worked in the field of Alternative Dispute Resolution since 2004 in Charles and Prince George’s Counties. 

Ms. Davis is very active in Charles County, Maryland, the Community where she resides.  She has volunteered to help preserve the McConchie School.  Up until December 2019, she  served as a Board Member for Sagepoint Senior Care Living Services.  Thus, prior to beginning her campaign to become a judge in Charles County, Maryland, she took a leave of absence from this role.  Although she has not served as a Board Member during the COVID-19 pandemic, she would, however, like to express her heartfelt sympathy to everyone affected by the chain of events that have transpired.  Ms. Davis continues to be reappointed by the President of the Charles County Bar Association to serve on the Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee for the Circuit Court for Charles County.  She holds membership with the Charles County Bar Association, Maryland State Bar Association, and the Maryland Program for Mediator Excellence. 

She served as a volunteer attorney with the Wills for Heroes program in Charles County.  She also prepared wills, advance directives and power of attorneys (free of charge) for elderly residents in Prince George’s County, Maryland.  

Ms. Davis served as an Adjunct Professor in the Paralegal Studies Program at Prince George’s Community College.  At Prince George's Community College, she taught Legal Research  and Writing.  She was invited to speak at the College of Southern Maryland (La Plata Campus), where she enlightened students on the topic of Alternative Dispute Resolution, specifically mediation. She taught (in conjunction with other instructors and alone) Family Law for the People: Understanding the Law and Court Process to individuals who reside in Charles, St. Mary’s and Calvert Counties.  She taught  Sports Law at Bowie State University.    

During September, 2019, she was presented an Official Citation by Senator Arthur Ellis for her “dedication in serving the Charles County Community as an accomplished attorney and the founding of Davis Law and Mediation, LLC.”
